Highway Explorer - Adelaide, South Australia to Alice Springs to Darwin, Northern Territory (14 days)

Enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of Adelaide with galleries, museums and wineries, before travelling through the centre of Australia to Alice Springs. Experience the relaxed pace of outback life in the Red Centre and watch the sunset over Uluru (Ayers Rock). Darwin offers a multi-cultural ending to the tour and is the gateway to spectacular national parks and offers fine dining to suit any taste

Sites on this driving tour:

-Travel through a fascinating, ever-changing landscape and marvel at sights and stories that will take you back in time to the late 1800s. Travel through the Clare Valley wine country, taste the wines and local cuisine and explore pioneer and mining history.

-Continue north to Port Augusta located at the tip of Spencer Gulf.

-Further north are the spectacular Flinders Ranges Enjoy the rugged beauty of the area where vivid red soil, carpets of native flowers in spring, dramatic ridges and peaks and undisturbed wildlife greet the visitor.

-Continue north west travelling through the South Australian outback, past vast salt lakes through sparse vegetation to Coober Pedy. sunbaked town of Alice Springs is within easy reach of colourful outback culture, ancient Dreamtime lore and fabulous nature.

-Travel back to Alice Springs via Watarrka National Park and explore the dramatic crags and peaceful waterholes of Kings Canyon.

-Board the Ghan in Alice Springs for this legendary rail journey to Darwin. Travel through the spectacular outback, the saltpans and the outback town of Katherine, in the south of Australia’s Top End This vibrant, multi-cultural city sits on a harbour twice the size of Sydney’s. It offers superb dining, cruising and wreck diving. It is also the gateway to key Top End natural and cultural attractions.

-South of Darwin is Litchfield National Park (NP) a beautiful area of waterfalls and tropical greenery.
